About Us
Jay Gardner, Pam Simonson and partner Hans Korfin have a passion for sailing that burns deep. All three grew up in Southern California and, in the 1960's, learned to sail. Their common interests in sailing brought them together at the Napa Valley Marina in the 1980s. It was here in 1985 that the dream of building a business based on sailing took shape. A partnership was formed with the mission to take people sailing in a fun, safe and relaxing way on the beautiful San Francisco Bay, arguably the finest sailing venue in the world. The dream evolved and blossomed and by 1990 the partners were ready to build!

The partners spent 10,000 man-hours and 17 months building Adventure Cat in a Napa industrial building. It was an enormous undertaking. Everything but the aluminum mast and backup diesel engines and props they built themselves. With the blessing of the United States Coast Guard, Adventure Cat debuted in December 1991, carrying passengers from Pier 40, south of the Bay Bridge, in San Francisco.
In a conventional, mono-hulled boat, sailing can be an afternoon of white-knuckle terror, with winds threatening to throw passengers overboard. Our catamaran has 2 hulls and this makes the ride both faster and more stable. Its fun without fear. Our vision to introduce as many people as possible to sailing in comfort, even our Mothers would enjoy, was accomplished!
In 2003, Adventure Cat 2, a new luxurious 65 catamaran was added to the fleet to accommodate larger groups.
Hans, Pam and Jay still love sailing as much as ever and are happy to offer this wonderful experience to others.
